A pop-up New Year Shelter

“Open your hand to the poor and needy neighbour in your land.”

How You Can Help

In normal years, ECWNS runs during the winter season (late November to March), except for Christmas week when we take our homeless guests to Crisis at Christmas.  We are still working to help people into more pernanent accommodation.  This winter 2021-22, we have placed people in single rooms in a hotel and churches are providing meals for them.

Give Money

All donations Donate with JustGiving to Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter are gratefully received. It is God’s provision through the generosity of individuals, companies and charitable trusts that make this project possible. If you would like to make a donation please make your cheque payable to “ECWNS”, and send it to Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter, c/o All Saints Vicarage, Elm Grove Road, London W5 3JH. If you are a UK tax payer please ask us to gift aid your donation as we will receive an extra 25% as a result. Forms are available to download here: MS Word to edit and email, or pdf to print and post.

Donating Items

Any items needed for the Shelter and for our guests will be requested through our Facebook page. Due to lack of storage, we are not able to take food, bedding, clothing or toiletries unless specifically requested.

Give Time

Our volunteers, working in three shifts, provide evening meals and fellowship, night time supervision and breakfast next day. It is a two-way process with the volunteers seeing their own sense of fellowship develop alongside that of the guests. All Volunteers are required to sign a Volunteer Agreement outlining guidelines for the safety and welfare of guests, volunteers and staff. There are established teams at most of the venues, but we are particularly looking to recruit helpers for the overnight or breakfast shift, or driving equipment between venues. No shelters in churches in 21/22, but we volunteers can help with delivering meals and providing toiletries etc.

Prayer

Prayer is vital to this project. It provides the heartbeat of Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter and we would like to invite you to take part in interceding for what we do together.  Please encourage your church to hold this project in prayer and do pray for us yourself. If you would like to pray for ECWNS and get regular prayer updates please join our prayer list.  This is even more vital during the pandemic, when we have less physical contact

If you know someone is homeless

Unfortunately we can’t take guests by public recommendation. If you are worried about someone sleeping rough, see our “Are you homeless” page for ideas of how to help.
